What Do You Know About The Amazing Moon?
The moon is one of those things that most of us notice but we do not give it much thought. Technically speaking a moon is a celestial body that has an orbit around a larger body. For example, the moon that goes around the Earth (also called the Moon) has a small gravitational pull and goes around the earth in stages and phases. But there are other planets that have multiple moons. Bigger planets such as Jupiter have more moons because their gravitational pull is stronger. It is the gravitational pull of a larger planet that has a lot to do with it. So when you study a planet, it is a good idea to study the moon or moons that go with it.
The Moon is also something that has a lot of importance from a cultural standpoint. Some cultures and religions use the Moon to help determine certain spiritual things and even the time. Some cultures in more primitive societies used clues from the environment to help determine the passing of time. And other culture took that even further and determined that the phases of the Moon and other aspects of the Moon were signs. In our modern society, we understand more about the science of the moon but most of us do not adopt the thinking that the Moon is mystical. However there are some who still believe that.
Back in the early does of the space program, traveling to the Moon was a major priority. Space travel is something that is intriguing. Years before the travel was actually successful, people would fanaticize about it and even write about it science fiction. And now, it is a reality. However, it is important to note that even though we have traveled to the Moon, the capability does not really exist anymore. All of the old Moon rockets are no longer functioning. However the technology existed once so it could definitely exist once again.
The moon is one of those things that is both captivating and functional. Without it, our night sky would not be well illuminated. Also, the moon is responsible for the tides in the ocean. So, even though it is beautiful, it also does serve a purpose.
