Tips On Preparing Files And Getting A Uprinting Coupon

Given today's economy, many business owners are designing and producing their own print materials. Below, I will be providing you with some reminders of things you should go over before you send your files to the printer. Should you decide to use an online printer, I will be providing you with a Uprinting coupon so you can get extra discounts on your order.

My first tip, although easy to follow, is something people overlook often. Make sure you check and double check your document for spelling errors! The last thing you want to find are spelling errors after having thousands or brochures or postcards printed. But sadly, this kind of error happens all too often. Running spell check and grammar check may only take a few seconds, but this is often not sufficient. Sometimes, these tools will not catch an error where you use the wrong word, which happens to be spelled correctly. For instance, if you use a phrase like "would of" when you mean to say "would have," a spell checker might not indicate that this is an error.

Another thing to check is the resolution of any images you use in the document. Newbie designers can easily overlook this important step. However, unless your images have the proper resolution, they will not print well even though they may appear fine on the computer screen. To avoid problems, most experts recommend that the images you use in your files be at least 300 DPI (dots per inch).

As for colors, RGB is fine for colors on the computer, but for printed colors, you need to use CMYK. The reason for this is that if you use RGB colors, they will not give you an accurate depiction of how they will appear on a printed piece. The best option, in my opinion, is to use Spot colors. If you have Pantone swatches, you can look at them to see exactly how the color will appear when printed. If you want your piece to bleed, meaning you want it to print to the edge of the paper, then you will need a 1/8th of an inch border around the document.

You may want to look into using an online printer when you print. By using Uprinting coupons, you can get great deals. I have had great success working with online printers, and when I use a Uprinting coupon, I can get discounts on their already low prices.
