The 5 Secrets to Long Life

It is the desire of most, if not all, people to have a happy and long life. Many think that it is a fable to be actually able to extend your life somehow. Well, it is not. There are 5 things that if done will allow for not only a longer life, but a happier one too.

Laughter is the first major component to having a long life. Try to find situations which will allow you, or even better require you, to laugh. Go to a comedy instead of a horror movie. Go to a comedy club instead of a dance club. Choose a game that creates laughs, such as Pictionary, instead of a game like Chess. Choose to hang out with friends who like to laugh instead of being serious. Generally the more you laugh the longer and happier your life will be.

Choose to run. The more you run and the more passionate you are about it the better. Science suggests that people who run at least 40 minutes a day can expect to live significantly longer than those who don't run at all. This also includes avoiding doing things that damage your health such as cigarettes.

Have a purpose in life. This purpose should not be just work. Choose to do something that excites you and makes you feel fulfilled; things that you find challenging, require your creativity and are a learning experience.  This is perhaps one of the most difficult things for people to understand about themselves. A few tips that may help are: use what you are already in love with and turn it into a passion. If you love video games and you like the techie stuff learn to create/program your own games; even if you never make a penny from them. If you like to work with your hands and enjoy working with wood learn to make chairs, tables or cabinets. In almost all cases a passion will require some financial investment; programming language, tools. Also it will require you to learn, practice, make mistakes and slowly develop competency with your passion. This may also include something as simple as socializing. Perhaps get involved with an Amway or Mary Kay type of firm and learn the competency of social relations. Learn to blog and get and join social groups. Again it is not required for you to make money with your passion as long as it is something you absolutely enjoy and it requires some effort and learning. Although in most cases you will make money with your passion, do not let money become the reason for why you are doing that thing or it will quickly turn into something you hate, do it because you love doing it. Finally I will mention that for some people a passion could be raising kids and grandkids or perhaps dating or being involved in a meaningful relationship. Do what you love and never stop doing it no matter how old you get and you will most certainly have a long and a very happy life.

Honor your mom and/or dad. This is perhaps a line from the Bible, but the scientific proof now shows that strong and happy family ties with your parents and grandparents work amazing wonders to relieve your body of the stresses of life. Stress is considered one of the biggest reasons for a shorter life; and a subconscious knowing that your parents and/or grandparents are there to give you advice and a shoulder to cry on creates an inexplicable release of stress. Even if your parents or grandparents tend to nag you or annoy you or you seem to always get involved in squabbles do your part to make sure you show them honor, even if it means keeping your mouth shut and swallowing your pride. Do this and you are guaranteed to have a long and happy life.

The last thing to discuss is vitamins and supplements. In our society we are fortunate enough to be living in the age of great medical advances. One of the best reasons for this is that we are able to get rid of  or in some cases deter many kinds of disease, but not only that, we are also able to study and understand why some people are able to better withstand certain conditions. The newest discoveries are that people who tend to live longer have a higher amount of calcium and vitamin D in their bodies, either naturally or through supplementation. Sometimes science doesn't even understand why, but only what, as in this case. There are also some amazing discoveries with a hormone called HGH that has the scientific community buzzing. Having the proper nutrients that your body needs will most certainly generate a long and a more adventure-filled life.

Perhaps some of the stuff mentioned here seems like a fairy tale to you, then we just ask that before you dismiss it, do the research for yourself. You will find that every word mentioned here is true. Choose to live a long and happy life, do these 5 steps, and perhaps you will enjoy seeing and being able to enjoy life with not only your grandkids, but maybe your great or even great-great grandkids.
