Texas tech records a victory over Kansas
The Texas Tech Raiders were at it again, this time against the Kansas their arch rivals. They did it by 84 to 65. Fans could have the best celebration mood. At LUBBOCK, Texas, the Red Raider fans had to rush to the floor and entered into a carnival mood as they celebrated the memorable win over Kansas on their first senior night.Alan Voskuil was the chief executioner of Kansas having made the Red Raiders with 35 points on a night against Kansas. The visitors could not recover from the slumber and couldn't do anything right to stop him.At 8:00 Texas Tech led Kansas wit a score line of 60-54Though there was a sigh of relieve when the Kansas learned that Missouri had defeated Oklahoma. This gave Kansas an assurance because at least they will have a share of the Big 12 Conference title.This is the only positive thing that went right for Kansas tonight despite the defeat. As per the table standing the Jay hawks trails the Red Raiders by 60-54 at United Spirit Arena.Alan Voskuil has continued to great more havoc to the Jay hawks with a staggering 24 points while Mike Singletary comes second with 13 points.As the game went on at one point, Kansas managed to cut the Texas Tech lead to two points making it 41-39, but the Texas Tech managed to increase their tempo and thoroughly out-played the visitors to record the memorable win. The Kansas got a further blow when their coaches Bill Self and Marcus Morris both received technical fouls.At half time Texas Tech had 11 points advantage over Kansas. Despite the fighting spirit put by the Kansas, they were unable to over haul the Texas Tech lead. For a whole four and half minutes the Jay hawks managed to defend and stop the Red Raiders from scoring but on their side they could not add any significant score. They only managed to make only seven points.Despite Tyrel Reed scoring a three-pointer shot while Travis Releford adding two buckets cutting the Red Raider lead from 39-21 to 39-28, but that could not be of any help. Even though they gave a spirited fight they could not match the Reds Riders. The margin was too wide for them to recover; no matter how bad a home team can hold on to a lead.It was widely thought that without Cole Aldrich, Kansas were out to win. However this did not favor them either because Voskuil was there to torment them. He led all scorers by 16 points. By just five minutes and thirty nine seconds remaining to the end of the first half, Texas Tech Lead by 14 points at 34:20. Kansas had nothing to inspire them to overhaul the Texas led. They were just flat and out of the game.The Kansas' sophomore guard Brady Morningstar's defensive effort to stop Texas Tech's Alan Voskuil was all in vain. Voskuil went ahead to score 14 points and four three-point shots.On the other hand, Texas Tech's defense was too tight for the Kansas. The Jay hawks couldn't get a way through and only seemed to shoot barely from the center of the field.
