In the recent years, people have become increasingly conscious about their diet and health. These days, the increasing contamination in food and water is causing all sorts of problems and diseases. Hence, no wonder, people are searching for new ways to improve their health and over all wellbeing.

This has led to millions of so called health products being launched in the market by various health companies. These products and supplements promise the world to people only to riddle them with unwanted problems that come as side effects. Disillusioned by such commercial supplements, more and more people are turning to resveratrol, a compound found in organic red wine.

Resveratrol is not a new health phenomenon. The French and the Japanese people are well aware of its many properties. It has also been observed that a regular intake of resveratrol halts ageing and helps the person to live longer. Resveratrol makes the French people one of the healthiest people in the world since it reduces the effects of their high fat and high cholesterol diet and prevents many diseases. These days there are a lot of resveratrol containing supplements in the market for people who can't get resveratrol naturally.

For nature lovers and people who prefer the natural diet, resveratrol is found in red grapes particularly the skin and seeds of the fruit. Hence, you can also get it in grape juice and grape wine as well. It's also found in peanuts and derived products such as peanut butter and in Japanese Knotweed. The Chinese hu zhang and the South American senna quinquangulata also have substantial amounts of resveratrol. These plants are used for producing resveratrol supplements since the extraction and mass production is easy and cheaper with them.

However, in spite of the plethora of supplements in the market, red wine still remains one of the most important sources of resveratrol. Hence, a glass of red wine with dinner is sufficient for the daily dietary intake of resveratrol. For people who don't like the idea of taking wine, there are other natural sources of resveratrol as well.

The benefits of resveratrol are numerous. It's almost like a cleaner of the arteries and veins. Hence it's a great way to remove the plaque and the cholesterol deposits in the blood vessels. Since it helps in cleaning up the blood vessels, it's obvious that it will also aid in a better circulatory system and respiratory system. This leads to a healthier body and hence prevents problems related to ageing and other diseases like heart problems, cancer, Parkinson's and other degenerative diseases.

There is not quick fix for a healthy body apart from good nutrition and optimum exercise. However, substances like resveratrol can help in preventing the damage caused to the cells by free radicals and age related factors. They can also help in inhibiting problems like cancer due to their anti oxidation properties. Hence, in today's world, resveratrol is a good option in case you are looking at a better quality of life along with freedom from disease and a long tenure on the planet.
