But first, you need to figure out how to promote your eCommerce site. Without traffic, there can be no sale. Here are a few proven and effective promotion methods.

Method 1: Pay per click advertising.

Using pay per click advertising is one of the best way to promote an eCommerce site. You have an advantage over other product vendors here - and that is having lots of back end products to sell. For example, you bid $1 per click. So $1 gives you a targeted visitor. That visitor ends up buying just 1 product upfront. But now you have the customer billing information. That very same customer is likely to end up buying more products from you in the future.

With more profits, you can afford to bid higher for the clicks. Bidding higher means more traffic, and more traffic leads to even more profits. That is how you achieve growth for your eCommerce site with PPC. In addition, bear in mind that PPC is very scalable. As long as you are willing to pay, you can have all the traffic you want.

Method 2: Article marketing and SEO.

However, PPC may not be for everybody. That, I can understand. Some people just don't enjoy bidding on keywords all day long. There may be other more enjoyable methods of traffic generation, such as article marketing and SEO.

Actually, article marketing and SEO go hand in hand together. Although they don't mean the same thing, they kind of complement one another.

For instance, when writing and submitting articles, you are really targeting the active readers on the article directories. Well established sites usually have a loyal base of readers. And when you publish a great article on the site, you end up getting a ton of traffic.

In each article, you add links to your site. That's how others can click through and visit your website to learn more about your business.

In the "eyes" of the search engines, these links are valuable. The more back links you have to your site, the higher you will appear in the search rankings.

Imagine having your products appearing in Google whenever someone searches for a particular product. You will get a lot of targeted traffic for free, which will lead to sales!

It is perfectly possible to run an ecommerce site and earn five figures each month just from search engine traffic alone. Remember, that is unpaid traffic, which means that you don't have to pay a single cent for the traffic.

On top of that, you don't have to spend time adding keywords or managing your PPC campaigns. All you need to do is to write and submit articles on a regular basis. Even when you stop writing, you will still be able to receive traffic from your previously published articles and from the search engines.
