How Do You Find The Best Moisturizer For Sensitive Skin?

By:   |   Jul 08, 2018   |   Views: 28   |   Comments: 0

If you're searching for the best moisturizer for sensitive skin then you should read this article right to the end. There is some essential reading about moisturizers right here, and once you've finished reading you will know much more about selecting the best moisturizer.

You're probably expecting that I'll start reviewing many of the moisturizers on the market. In fact I won't be doing that at all. What I will be doing is telling you why most moisturizers on the market are not good moisturizers, and are not good for sensitive skin.

That may shock you. Prepare to read on.

There are many women who have become aware of the risks of using mainstream personal products such as anti aging products, cosmetics, soaps, shampoos, hair sprays and more, including moisturizers. More and more women are learning about these problems every day.
The sad fact is that many of these personal products, including many popular moisturizers, contain a range of chemical and petrochemical ingredients which can actually be bad for your health and your skin. I speak from experience.

I first began to research this when my own daughter had a terrible reaction to cosmetics which she applied to her face at the age of 5 for her first ballet concert. I was horrified to see her face break out, and wondered why. That particular instance got me to researching all about what goes in so many of our personal products, and led me to an understanding of why so many of these products should be avoided.

I became so concerned that I started a website discussing all of the risks of so many of the personal products on the market today.

So many modern personal products such as those listed above, including many brand-name moisturizers, contain ingredients which are known to be risky for your health and your skin. Many of these ingredients come from crude oil. They are what is known as petrochemical ingredients, in other words they are derived from the distillation of crude oil.

It may horrify you to find out that many of the personal products that you may have used this morning, including your moisturizer, include ingredients which come from crude oil. Sadly it is true.

Mineral oil is widely used in many personal products including many anti aging skin products and cosmetics. Mineral oil comes from crude oil. In moisturizers it is used extensively.

Mineral oil has no real moisturising properties. It is used in products such as moisturizers for 2 major reasons.

The first of these reasons is that it forms a thin film of oil over the skin which helps prevent moisture loss, which it does. However it does this at a price. It can cause blocked pores, it can reduce the ability of your skin to eliminate toxins, it can increase the risk or incidence of acne and it can also have other health implications. And it has even more serious implications for anyone with sensitive skin.

The second major reason why mineral oil is included in so many moisturizers is that it is incredibly cheap. In fact it costs almost nothing. So the companies which manufacture products such as moisturizers can do so spending as little as possible on ingredients, thereby allowing the major part of the budget to be spent on marketing, which is what sells the product.

There's many other examples, but I'm sure you're now getting the picture. Many ingredients found in these types of products are known to cause health problems including, in some cases, cancer.

Not only that but there are many ingredients used in products such as moisturizers which have health implications which are totally unknown, because no one has ever studied the use of these chemicals on human beings.

So if you're looking for the best moisturizer for sensitive skin what do you do? Do you avoid moisturizers altogether? Do you forget about taking care of your skin?

No not at all. You use some simple resources to research more about how to identify the risky ingredients in these types of products, and how to choose better products. One such resources my own website, another is the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics where you can search individual products, manufacturers names and ingredients to find out much more about the types of ingredients found in any particular product.

In fact there are companies which make excellent skin care products which do not contain any risky chemical ingredients or petrochemical ingredients. In fact the company which manufactures what I consider to be the worlds best skin care products has a publicly stated goal of making products which are "safe enough to eat". Note that their first priority is product safety.

It's a sad fact but it's true. Many of the products you may be using today may well be damaging to your health and your skin, particularly if you have sensitive skin. It is not worth taking any risks with your health, including by using a moisturizer containing risky chemical ingredients. There are excellent skin care products available without risky chemical ingredients, it just takes a little more digging to find them.
