Excessive forehead sweating, there are many different factors that may cause it.  According to the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) 3 percent of our population suffers from excessive sweating, which has just been classified as a skin disorder. While excessive sweating is troublesome enough, forehead sweating is irritating and conspicuous.

Starting to sweat uncontrollably while in the presence of friends or co-workers is not what one may call being as cool as the other side of the pillow. Hyperhidrosis, is a term that means excessive sweating. However, in this case, we are speaking about face sweating that can bring on many different emotions; it could stimulate, nervousness, uncomfortableness, or fear.

Emotions such as anxiety, excitement, anger, or fear are all common causes of forehead sweating. While in many cases these emotions may sound an alarm to most people's nervous system, those with hyperhidrosis... it's inevitable.

Aside from anxiety and the imbalance of our nervous system, a person's psychological health can also play a major part in excessive forehead sweating. It's not uncommon for profuse sweating to occur when a person's mind is on over-load or they are stressed from family or work-related problems.

I know that we all wish this is not true but, remember the old adage...we are what we eat. That stands true also for over-sweating. The foods that we eat can affect our sweat production. Listed are a few foods and beverages that can cause us to sweat more; spicy foods, alcoholic beverages, caffeine.

Popular treatments for hyperhidrosis

Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis); the first level of treatment should be the easiest and least expensive IE. antiperspirants. Antiperspirants or clinical strength antiperspirants works for many people, and should be tried first.

The next level of treatment are injections. Botox is a popular solution, however it has side effects that deserves your attention. In addition to that, the treatment only last for 6-8 months before another series of injections are needed. Then there is Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS). This is definitely a last resort, and many experts do not recommend ETS for treatment for hyperhidrosis. What is ETS surgery? ETS is a surgical procedure in which an attempt is made to interrupt the carrying of nerve signals from the spinal cord to the sweat gland, to prevent the nerve signals from turning on the sweat glands.
