Acne is a common skin problem not only in the USA but also in many areas of the world. Most of acne commonly are found on the face and may also occur in the other regions of the body, such as neck, chest, back, shoulders and even the upper arms. It is the most common and chronic skin disease, usually seen in teenagers, but acne can also appear on children and adult.

Acne is not just a physical problem; it is also an emotional burden. People with acne will really feel insecure whenever they feel like having those eyes staring at their face. People with acne are so timid for they may just be tagged as "ugly" by others. It will lessen their self confidence. This is the reason why an effective acne treatment product is so needed.

Over-the-counter acne products can help treat your acne. Information on the brochure is intended solely for general educational purposes and is not intended nor implied to be a substitute for professional medical advice relative to your specific medical condition or question. Always seek the advice of your physician or other health provider for any questions you may have regarding your medical condition.

Benzoyl peroxide is the most commonly used over-the-counter acne medication. Benzoyl peroxide works as a peeling agent, increasing skin turnover and clearing pores, thus reducing the bacterial count there as well as directly as an antimicrobial. The main benefits of using benzoyl peroxide are to remove excess oil, closing the pores on the face and kill the bacteria that cause acne.

We can find acne products with different percentages of benzoyl peroxide. But, the highest concentration must be prescribed by doctors. Usually a gel form contains higher concentration than others. The highest strength cream is used to treat acne breakouts. Besides the benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid is also a common ingredient in acne care products. Check the ingredient list of several acne products and you can find Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid in those lists.

Don't get benzoyl peroxide in your eyes, mouth or nose, as it will cause an inflammation or irritation. Some people develop side effects from using prescription topical medicines including stinging, burning, redness, peeling, scaling, or discoloration of the skin. But these effects usually decrease or even disappear with continual use. For the first few weeks of treatment, applying foundation evenly may be difficult because the skin may be red or scaly. As you continue treatment, the scaling may lessen, making it easier to apply makeup.
