Cholera is a serious infection, involving the lower part of the small bowel. It is one of the most severe diseases of the intestines. It is a waterborne disease and is common during monsoon. The disease is predominant in children in endemic areas like India and other countries of South East and Mid East Asia. Its incidence is much higher in the age group between one and three years than in other age groups of children.

Treatment of Cholera at home

Home treatments for Cholera include many things. One of the methods is to use lemon juice. The Lemon juice has a property to kill cholera bacilli in a very short time. It can be taken in the form of salted beverage or sweetened for this purpose.

The second method is to make the decoction by using thirty grams of the root bark in half a litre of water in such a way that it remains only one third. Then take that decoction at least twice a day.

One to three days after exposure the patient begins to feel slightly ill and a little diarrhea begins. In some cases it does not amount to much more than that, for some people are not as susceptible to the disease as others. Usually the onset is sudden. Profuse watery stools pour forth, sometimes with such force that the patient cannot control them. The stool is light grey in color, which fact gives it the name "rice-water stool." Vomiting is also severe and often projectile, which means it shoots out of the mouth. With the loss of fluid from vomiting and diarrhea, the patient becomes dehydrated very soon.

Some of the precautions you can adhere to while suffering from this disease is to have boiled water or treat it with chlorine or iodine, other boiled beverages such as coffee and tea are very good too, make sure to have food which are cooked thoroughly, undercooked meals is not good in this kind of condition.

Cholera is a deadly infection of the small intestine causing severe amounts of watery diarrhea and vomiting. Additional symptoms include abdominal cramping, dry mouth, constant thirst, sunken eyes, nausea, low urine output, and lethargy. Diarrhea caused by cholera will often resemble water with speckles and may have a "fishy" odor.

Perhaps one of the least lethal diseases on this list, the fatality rate of typhoid fever is only 10-30 percent. But the symptoms show up in stages over a period of three weeks and, in most cases, are not fatal. That said, the disease can stay dormant in a person who has overcome it and then be passed on to another person. The most famous case of this was the American cook in the early 1900s known as "Typhoid Mary" Mallon.

Prevention of Cholera

Cholera is frequently transmitted in the course of infected water or food. Outbreaks can take place in any part of the world where water supply, cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation are insufficient. To prevent cholera, you must follow the following things:

· Drinking water must be purified either by chlorine, iodine or to be boiled.

Love In The Time Of cholera, unlike Marquez's other novels including One Hundred Years of Solitude and The Autumn of the Patriarch maintains a folktale quality, with a feel of everyday gossip. The story moves back and forth in time. This ploy of Marquez's to maintain the reader's interest succeeds without much effort on the behalf of the reader.

To save the patient, treatment should begin as soon as possible. Lost body fluids should be replaced with the use of an oral rehydration solution. Antibiotics are effective against the cholera organism.
