Causes of Acne, Types of Acne, and Treatments of Acne
There are many different types of acne treatments. They range from over the counter medicines to those that are only available by prescription. Acne treatments need to take into account the persons history with acne as well as the personal side effects that acne has had on their life.
As an acne sufferer myself, I know how difficult it can be as a teenager with acne. This is a very difficult time in a young persons life. Looking their best is of utmost importance. Struggling with acne can be very disheartening. And for those of us who continue to suffer as adults with acne, it can be just as disheartening. Acne can affect not only a person's face but also their shoulders, back and chest. This effects the types of clothes one is willing to wear. For females especially, body acne can be very discouraging.
The types of acne skin treatments vary. Acne skin care can be very delicate. Contrary to what most people believe, acne isn't caused by dirty skin. Washing too often or with products not gentle enough can do more harm then good. Many people also believe that if they dry their skin out, this will solve the acne. Not so. Drying the skin only worsens the condition because your body works overtime to rehydrate your skin. Many topical acne treatments also can make your skin red and itchy. This can be almost as uncomfortable as the acne itself.
Finding an acne solution and acne treatment plan that work can be a very time consuming process. Much trial in error goes into trying all the different types of medicines and giving them time to work. Most require at least 6-8 weeks to notice and an improvement. To those of us with acne, this can be an eternity.
Antibiotics are also used in the treatment of acne. Not as often though as the threat of antibiotic resistance is present.
For some, none of the medical acne treatment options are effective. These people look for natural treatment options. Some believe that acne has a root medical cause and if you find that cause and solve it, the acne will resolve itself.
