If you are like me, you probably are looking into ways to make your skin youthful and smooth. You would also be aware how important Collagen is for removing wrinkles and lines from your skin. But this is still a murky area. There are so many products and so much hype surrounding the anti aging industry, it is difficult for the consumer to take an informed decision. So if you have questions like €œCan collagen be absorbed into the skin?, you are not alone.

In this article, I will discuss some of the most common questions related to anti aging skin care. Let's get started now.

Why is Collagen important for my skin?
When we are young, our skin is smooth and firm. This is because of the collagen and elastin fibers that hold the skin together. These are produced internally by our body, we do not need any external source for them.

The problem is - with age, this production of these two proteins in the body keeps on decreasing. Ultimately, the wear and tear of collagen and elastin outstrips the manufacture of new fibers to replace them, and our skin becomes loose and saggy as a result. This is what causes wrinkles and lines to develop in it.

Are collagen injections and supplements effective?
Collagen injections are not really effective in the long term. The synthetic collagen introduced into the skin through these injections doesn't mesh properly with the natural, complex structures of the collagen in the skin.

The injected collagen just acts as a filler, and temporarily fills the lines in the skin. The effects start wearing off within a few weeks and then you have to take the injection once again.

The collagen supplements too are not much effective and shouldn't be a core part of your anti aging efforts. You would be much better off looking for a permanent solution.

Can collagen be absorbed into the skin?
Not really. Collagen molecules are too big in size to be absorbed by the skin when applied topically. This is the reason creams containing collagen as an ingredient, aren't really effective.

The optimal solution is to naturally enhance the production of the collagen in the skin.
So how to naturally increase collagen in my skin?

There are some effective natural substances like Active Manuka Honey, Cynergy TK and CoQ10. These ingredients naturally enhance collagen and elastin regeneration in the skin and have a significant anti wrinkle effect.

They also protect the skin from the damage caused by the Ultraviolet rays of the sun and the free radicals found in environmental pollution.

So, can collagen be absorbed into the skin? No. There are much better options available out there. A fresh young skin can be yours too if you make the right choice.
