Buy Food Sealer, Buy Foodsaver V2240 - A Review of Experience
When I first started researching the internet for Foodsavers, I decided to go for the V2840. But when I saw the price jumped up to $250, there was no way I was going to pay that much for something I had never used before and didn't know how I'd like it. Then, I saw this model which was less expensive and seemed to have almost all the good things that V2840 had. So I got the Foodsaver V2240 and I'm so glad I did! I have used it with the bags to seal chicken and sausages. I have used it with the deli containers to seal meats and cheeses, and I have used it with the jar sealer to seal mason jars. It makes a perfect vacuum seal with all three. I haven't come across anything that this machine has, but it makes a perfect seal every time barring any user error.
This Food Sealer allows me to make a big meal and freeze single size portions. I saved a ton on wasted food and also have the convenience of taking one of the meals with me to work, for lunch. It doesn't take much space on the counter so not cumbersome to have out all the time for quick and frequent use.
It's new, but it pulls vacuum and seals flawlessly every time. It's quiet, fast, sealing the bag in less than 30 seconds.
So far, I am very happy with my food sealer. The only thing I don't like, but have read that it's common with all Foodsavers, is that each time you vacuum and seal a bag you lose a couple of inches at the top. Not a big deal because you can re-use the bag with something smaller but I just wish Foodsaver would design it to waste lesser bag.
I can say I wouldn't hesitate to buy this model again. It's already paid for itself. Now I can buy bulk meat which will last much longer in the freezer and not burn. I would highly recommend this FoodSaver V2240.
