ginger root has long been known to be very effective against many illnesses and diseases. Ginger root is a natural herb, or spice and can be safely consumed without any side-effects.

Ginger is a culinary spice known to add its pungent taste and aroma to whatever dish it is added to. It has a long history as a culinary spice and medicinal herb for thousands of years in Asia, and has been exported to the West thanks to Eastern traders. Since then it has become a staple in most kitchens around the world.

There are many known health benefits of ginger root and other plant foods, but because they are safe for frequent use in reasonable amounts, The medicinal properties of ginger, particularly useful in the upkeep of digestive system health cannot be overemphasized. Other traditional uses of the herb include the enhancement of metabolic functions and support of digestive calm following the intake of meals while promoting regular bowel movement.

Ginger contains antioxidants. Antioxidants are found in certain food like garlic, green tea, coffee, red wine and apples. These are responsible for fighting free radicals which naturally occur inside the body, and which contribute to the development of health problems such as heart disease and cancer.

Aside from that, it acts as a natural anti inflammatory in health problems like arthritis, ulcerative colitis, bursitis and bronchitis. While no major side effects are associated with taking ginger as a medicinal herb, caution is advised to those with gallstones. Consult your physician first before taking it.

Ginger root has been shown to provide effective relief for migraines and headaches of all types, but ginger capsules will not be found alongside over the counter remedies such as Tylenol and aspirin, at least in American pharmacies. On the other hand, benefits of ginger root include relief of nausea. Continued use will not lead to ulcers and it is extremely safe,

It has a blood thinning effect, this is good for the body as it helps prevent blood clots which if left untreated in the body can lead to strokes and heart attacks. It's a natural anti-inflammatory especially helpful with arthritic conditions. In one study a ginger preparation helped relieve pain and swelling in 75% of the people tested.

It helps to naturally clean out the lungs and get relief from asthma, or shortness of breath. It also helps to get rid of the mucus in the throat.

It helps to build up your immune system to help you fight against getting a cold, fever, and even HIV which is an auto-immune disease.
