Affiliate Marketing Websites - Yes, You Must Have Your Own!
Successful affiliate marketers absolutely must have their own website. If all you do is get your affiliate link and then send people directly to the website owner's product site, or sales page, then you simply cannot be effectively successful. You must have your own website and it must appeal to your visitors' interests.
You might think it is difficult, time-consuming, and requires a lot of technical geek-speak knowledge to build your own site. Not necessarily. Let me walk you through the simple steps.
First, of course, you will need to know what product, or service, you are going to be promoting. This helps you make decisions about the design, layout, look and feel of your site. It will also help you with the second step of this process.
Second, you need your own domain. You can use any of the services out there and purchase a domain rather inexpensively. Think of something creative, yet accurately descriptive for your site. It is not absolutely necessary that it be something people can remember because you are not brand advertising. I would recommend you only register a DOT COM address. After all, you are running a business, not a purely information site, and it certainly is not a government site or a non-profit site. So, that leaves out the .info, .gov, and .org sites. Stick with the .com extension as more people recognize it than anything else.
Third, select a web host. There are a lot of them out there, but my personal preference is HostGator. They are very reasonably priced. They offer tremendous value for the money you spend. They have absolutely outstanding customer service. My experience with them has always proven positive.
Fourth, do a quick search online for website templates. You will find hundreds, if not thousands of templates you can use to easily get your site up and running fast. If you would rather not build it yourself, then you can hire somebody else at oDesk.com, or eLance.com, or any one of several other sites that list private contractors who are willing to build a simple site for a very low cost. Of course, there are numerous other places online where you can also find web page creation software, hosting sites that offer easy-to-use templates, and other ways to get your site built fast and easy. Remember, to begin affiliate marketing, all you really need is a simple name and email address capture page. From there, your site can be directly linked to the product or service you are promoting. So, it really won't take much to get your very own site up and running.
Your site will attract more visitors and capture more email addresses when it looks professional, looks clean and uncluttered. As an affiliate marketer, all you really need is a simple site that will give your visitor confidence that you are operating with integrity and will provide valuable information. There is no need to get complex.
