75 Gallon Aquarium: An In-Home Ocean

By:   |   Jul 08, 2018   |   Views: 16   |   Comments: 0

A 75 gallon aquarium is a substantial purchase, but if you're a fan of fish and enjoy having them in your home it can be very rewarding.  Buying such a large fish tank obviously comes with a lot of responsibility, but with a little experience you'll learn how to handle it easily.  With a 75 gallon aquarium, you have a lot of options for you and your fish friends.

First, it's important to know what type of setup you would like to have.  Fish tanks are usually made of glass or acrylic, and each material has its own positive and negative aspects.  An acrylic aquarium weighs less than a glass tank and is generally less susceptible to shattering and leaking.  Despite being lighter, an acrylic fish tank is still very strong and safe and has very good insulation.  If taken care of properly, an all glass aquarium is also very durable and helps create a very beautiful picture when your fish, plants and setup oceanic are inside.

One of the basic options in choosing any fish tank is the type of marine life that you want to support.  You can choose to either have a saltwater fish tank or a freshwater fish tank.  Not only will some of your fish and plant options be different, but each type of water will require certain equipment for the fish tank.  For example, a saltwater aquarium will need its own additives and supplements as well as a salt mix and calcium reactors.  Freshwater aquariums will have different additives and supplements.

There are also several other supplies that a fish tank needs.  Your tank will need a filter to keep out harmful and excess bacteria.  A heater will help keep your water at a comfortable temperature for your fish.  Most likely you can find an aquarium heater that works in either freshwater or for salt water.

Because a 75 gallon fish tank is such a large focal point, design is also an important factor.  An aquarium stand needs to be very sturdy to hold such a large object, and they come in numerous designs.  Your tank hood and canopy are also important.  You may also consider a bow front fish tank to have a special look as you watch the fish swim around the reef.

If you love to watch fish and you have room in your home, consider buying a 75 gallon aquarium.  You'll love coming home to the relaxing view and enjoy watching your marine life play.
