3 Mistakes to Avoid With Your Affirmations

Affirmations are a great way to produce positive results in our lives. Still, a few conditions have to be met for them to work properly. Ignore these and you will never achieve your full potential. Let's get started right now with the first mistake to avoid:

1. Use Inappropriate Words

The words you use in your affirmations are very important. The emotions you attach to those words are even more important. Your affirmations should always be in the present tense and be positive. Avoid any negativity because your subconscious mind will not make the distinction and will end up creating the negative outcome.

For example, avoid using an affirmation like: "I choose to get rid of this illness". Instead, affirm something like: "I choose to allow perfect health in me". You can also include positive emotions in your affirmation. For example: "I am so happy and grateful now that I am financially secure". When saying those affirmations, make sure to visualize them and feel the positive emotions. Notice that I used the word "choose" in my first example. This is a simple trick to get your mind to accept the affirmation more easily.

2. Being in an Inappropriate Mental State

Affirmations don't work for a lot of people because they are not in a proper mental state when using them. If you arrive home tired after a long day at work and affirm: "I always have more than enough energy" then chances are that it won't create any result. You will not believe this affirmation and your conscious mind will knock it right off.

I believe that the best time to use positive affirmations is when our mind is quiet. Techniques like meditation and self-hypnosis are very useful for that. When using any kind of hypnosis, the goal is to bypass the conscious mind so that the affirmations will go right to the subconscious mind to produce results much more easily.

3. Holding On to Mental Blocks

Another reason why affirmations can fail is that you have mental blocks or negative beliefs preventing you from success. As long as those are present, the positive affirmations can't do their work.

For example, if your affirmation is: "I am a powerful money magnet" but you believe consciously or unconsciously that "rich people are bad" then your affirmation will not do its work. So to recap, use appropriate words when creating and saying your affirmations, be in a relaxed state of mind when using them and release your negative blocks preventing them from doing their work properly.
